Pheasant Shooting Health and Safety Guidelines

Finn Valley Pheasantries strive to make your pheasant shoot as safe and enjoyable as possible and are conscious of the health and safety of all participants.

Safety Statement of Shoot is available upon request.
Regretfully, the 2009/2010 pheasant shoot has been cancelled

Below you will find some safety tips about gun handling.

All participants must have their own Public and Product Liability Insurance, or be a paid up member of one of the various shooting organisations which include insurance as part of the membership. (e.g. Countryside Alliance Ireland)
We regret that we cannot accept any bookings without a valid insurance certificate.

  • Never shoot near farm buildings or near or across public roads
  • Always remain in sight of your team members
  • Use only Fibrewad cartridges
  • Always aim your gun in a safe direction
  • Extract ammunition when gun is not in use
  • Always wear personal protective equipment
  • Ensure that your gun is serviced regularly
  • In the event that your gun fails to fire, ensure that the muzzle is pointed in a safe direction
  • Do not rely on the safety catch as this could be faulty and the gun might discharge accidentally
